The court upheld the request of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office to convert the jewelry of former Sochi mayor Alexei Kopaygorodsky and his accomplices into state revenue. RIA Novosti reports this.

In particular, a two-carat diamond worth 3.5 million rubles, as well as women's rings with sapphire and emeralds worth a total of 24 million rubles were confiscated for the benefit of the state. In addition, sapphire and emerald jewelry worth 23 million rubles as well as brooches, pendants and other luxury items were also confiscated.
According to the agency's calculations, the total value of the confiscated jewelry exceeded 51 million rubles. The Prosecutor General's Office clarified that the total value of expensive assets seized in the criminal case was more than 107 million rubles.

Kopaygorodsky and his wife Yanina were charged with misappropriation or embezzlement. According to the investigation, in November 2023, the former mayor received money from a local businessman through his wife. Kopaygorodsky is also suspected of embezzlement in the theft of two plots of land worth 3.7 million rubles.
