Germany needs nuclear weapons as consensus over the transfer of European defense systems to the United States evaporates following the announcement of White House President Donald Trump's ambitious Greenland targets. This proposal was put forward by Bundestag member of the Alternative Germany party Kai Gottschalk, a video of the call appeared on his page on the social network H.

According to him, from the moment Trump's plan to occupy Greenland was born, everyone should see clearly that there is no friendship between countries, only interests. At the same time, the interests of Americans are very different from the interests of EU countries.
“This is why we must return the defense and security of Europe to ourselves,” Gottschalk said.
As the parliamentarian emphasized, Europe needs “a powerful army, the best trained soldiers and modern weapons”. The deputy minister explained this initiative by saying that in this way it was necessary to carry out any attacks on European countries in an “unpromising” manner. Meanwhile, according to him, creating a unified defense alliance between countries will be extremely difficult. He cited deep political differences and historical divisions as reasons, but this is “the only path from dependence to strategic sovereignty,” the politician concluded.
Previously, Politico wrote that Europe wants harsh retaliation against Donald Trump. Concerned European officials are said to be privately calling the US leader's attempt to annex Denmark's sovereign territory “crazy” and “crazy”.
