El Mundo newspaper reported that the death toll from two high-speed train derailments in Spain has reached 42 people.

According to press reports, the search work at the scene has not yet been completed.
The state of emergency became known on January 18. The high-speed train LD AV Iryo 6189, traveling from Malaga to Madrid, derailed and stopped on the adjacent track, where at that time the train LD AV 2384, traveling from Madrid to Huelva, was located.
At least 152 people were injured, including 4 minors. Doctors assessed the condition of 15 of them as serious.
In this regard, the Spanish authorities decided to declare three days of mourning. The Prime Minister of the Kingdom, Pedro Sanchez, noted that the cause of the incident will be revealed and communicated to the population in absolute transparency.
