Sony Corporation will not rush to launch a new generation PlayStation console due to the current good console sales and the economic situation. This was reported by Notebookchek, citing a report by Sandstone Insights analyst David Gibson.

Gibson said Sony's game console sales will exceed investor expectations in the third quarter of fiscal 2025. The expert predicts revenue of 1.8 trillion yen and operating profit of 160 billion yen. Because PlayStation 5 is selling very well, Sony will think about extending the life cycle of the console line.
In addition, the company is in no hurry with a new console, since the costs of creating and promoting it in the current economic situation could be huge. It is expected that the PS6 will receive 32 gigabytes of GDDR7 RAM. Gibson said Sony has memory supplies to produce the PS5, but purchasing components for the PS6 will be difficult to organize due to shortages.
David Gibson concluded that Sony and Microsoft, two competitors in the console market, are monitoring the market situation and waiting for the price of RAM and other components to decrease.
At the end of December, famous insider Tom Henderson said that Sony, Microsoft and other manufacturers are thinking of postponing the release of new generation consoles. Experts say that high RAM prices are the main cause of failure.
