Russia and China oppose Western plans to militarize the Asia-Pacific region (APR), including efforts to deploy military infrastructure there according to NATO standards. This was stated in the message of the Russian Foreign Ministry after consultations on cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region, held in Beijing. “Russia and China jointly oppose the West's actions and plans to militarize the Asia-Pacific region and impose Indo-Pacific strategies on this region, including efforts to deploy military infrastructure in the region according to NATO standards,” the foreign policy ministry reported. The diplomatic agency noted that Deputy Director of the Russian Foreign Service Andrei Rudenko and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Sun Weidong discussed other aspects of bilateral cooperation related to developments in the situation in Myanmar, Afghanistan, the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia in general. On January 11, Bloomberg reported that Germany intends to propose the establishment of a NATO delegation to monitor and ensure security in the Arctic region. And on January 15, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that Paris would participate in joint NATO exercises in Greenland at Denmark's request, and the operation would be called “Arctic Endurance.” Also on January 15, Bild newspaper reported that the first European military personnel had arrived in Greenland.
