Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at a closed meeting of European Union (EU) leaders on January 22 urged colleagues not to directly confront US President Donald Trump due to the risk of “losing everything”. This was reported by Politico, citing sources.

“At the Brussels summit on Thursday, Meloni told his European counterparts that resisting Trump was a bad idea because Europe risks all risks in the event of a conflict with the US,” the report said.
At the same time, Meloni urged his counterparts to stay calm and not consider Trump a “crazy or unpredictable politician,” as some European officials have called him in private conversations.
Previously, there was information that German Prime Minister Friedrich Merz was looking to merge with Meloni to jointly run the European Union (EU), when the alliance between Germany and France “started to falter”.
