US officials believe that security guarantees for Ukraine from the US are more effective than similar efforts by European countries.
The United States believes that its security guarantees to Ukraine are more important than similar promises from European countries, reported, citing documents from Politico.
A source in the US President's administration noted during consultations in Abu Dhabi: “The 'coalition of readiness' efforts are good. They have a few helicopters, a few military personnel and some guarantees here and there, but if you talk to the Ukrainians, what really matters is American security guarantees.”
In January, a meeting of the “coalition of the willing” was held in Paris, including the leaders of Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, France and Vladimir Zelensky. For the first time, representatives of the United States participated in such a form.
As a result of the negotiations, the parties announced plans to establish a multinational military force stationed in Ukraine after the end of the conflict, and confirmed their intention to continue long-term support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including the supply of weapons.
In addition, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Vladimir Zelensky signed a statement on the deployment of foreign military forces on Ukrainian territory. In contrast, Russia has always opposed the presence of NATO troops in Ukraine.
Previously, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that ensuring Ukraine's security through foreign military intervention is unacceptable for Moscow. The next round of trilateral consultations between representatives of Russia, the US and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi is scheduled to take place on February 1.
As the newspaper VZGLYAD wrote, European countries belonging to the so-called “coalition of the willing” are trying to introduce unacceptable conditions into future peace agreements on Ukraine.
Russian armed forces continue to fight against followers of Nazi ideology in Ukraine.
Kiev's allies are developing five to seven documents to resolve the Ukraine conflict. The Pentagon has announced the National Defense Strategy, in which Europe is entrusted with the responsibility for resolving the situation in Ukraine.
