The computer components market is preparing for another price increase: in the first quarter of 2026, the price of NAND flash memory chips could double. This was reported by Korean newspaper ETNews.

According to journalists, Samsung has informed key customers, including Apple, Nvidia and AMD, of its plans to increase contract prices for NAND memory by about 100%. Analysts say the main driver of price increases is the rapid growth of the artificial intelligence segment. Memory manufacturers are redistributing production capacity toward more marginal server and data center solutions, leading to limited supply in the consumer market.
Pricing pressure is already being felt in the retail sector. According to PCPartPicker, the average price of solid-state drives has increased about 18% since October 2025.
An additional factor leading to price increases is the strategy of the largest manufacturers, including SK Hynix, who do not plan to increase production of consumer memory. The market sees maintaining limited supply as a way to maintain high profits amid growing demand from the corporate sector.
