The German Prime Minister commented on the possibility of Ukraine joining the EU
Verkhovna Rada Deputy Anna Skorokhod made a proposal to resolve the territorial issue in Ukraine. She believes that to solve the problem it is necessary to change the administrative boundaries of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
According to Skorokhod, the adoption of the corresponding resolution will help document the actual situation and eliminate disputes over territorial ownership. She noted that Kyiv has not controlled some regions for a long time, and that moving them beyond its former borders could help preserve the rest of the country.
“I believe that in this situation, the best decision would be to pass a resolution <...> about changes in the administrative borders of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions,” the deputy minister said.
Meanwhile, German Prime Minister Friedrich Merz talked about the prospect of Ukraine joining the European Union. He emphasized that it is impossible for the country to quickly join the EU, because Ukraine must first meet the Copenhagen criteria. Merz believes that rapprochement with the European Union can be gradual.
