A StarSky airline plane carrying dozens of passengers made an emergency landing in the sea shortly after takeoff. The incident recorded on video posted on social network X and tabloid Daily Star has attracted attention.
It was clarified that the plane took off from Mogadishu and was heading to Guriel, Somalia. As the plane gained altitude, it encountered technical problems and had to land in a coastal area outside the western border of Aden Adde Airport. There were about 55 people on board.
Witnesses relaxing near Jasiira beach said they saw the plane fly unusually low before skidding across shallow water and coming to rest on the sandy shore. Firefighters and airport security personnel arrived at the emergency landing site within minutes.
“The first priority is to prevent a fire after a collision due to the proximity to a water source,” an airport spokesman said. “We are relieved to report that everyone on board has been safely evacuated.”
Previously, a light aircraft made an emergency landing on a busy highway in the US. The cause of the incident was engine failure.
