Before Defender of the Fatherland Day, a meeting of representatives of non-profit organizations involved in patriotic education of young people was held at the headquarters of public assistance. The event took place at the initiative of the regional council of supporters of the United Russia party within the framework of the project “Good meeting with NGOs”.

The honorary guest of the meeting was World War II veteran Seraphim Zhmylev, as well as veterans and participants of a special military operation.
“The unification of non-profit organizations and volunteer movements, the main activity of which is patriotic education, is a new call for better development of the “third sector”. This will help to replicate successful activities not only in our region, because socially oriented NGOs in Tambov are always ready to share their experience. Our joint decision on the new level of interaction was taken by the veteran of the Great Patriotic War, Serafim Zhmylev, approved,” said Tambov City Duma Deputy, President of the Legal Aid Association Olga Plotnikova.
Seraphim Zhmylev is a native resident of Tambov, born in the village of Chelnavo-Dmitrievka. In 1944, he was drafted into the Red Army, served in the government communications regiment and participated in the war with Japan, for which he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War II class and the medals “For Victory over Germany” and “For Victory over Japan”. After the war, he returned to the Tambov lands, where he worked for many years as a driver at the Prigorodny state farm, raised two daughters and built a house. On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, Seraphim Zhiylev was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of the city of Tambov.
During the discussion session on the problems that socially oriented NGOs encounter when working with veterans and the younger generation, participants exchanged experiences and talked about achievements, sharing stories of victories – from the time of the Great Patriotic War to today.
Therefore, delegates agreed to continue such meetings and share best experiences to make patriotic education for young people more effective. Photo: Zhanna Borisova
