In Kazakhstan, new regulations on chemical castration for convicted pedophiles will take effect from October 17. Orda.kz reports this.

Appropriate measures will be taken at the discretion of the court. Now, at least 12 months before the end of their prison term, colonial officers must submit documents to the court, after which the convicted person will undergo a forensic psychiatric examination.
Experts will find out whether a person has a tendency to sexual violence or not. Then, forced measures in the form of chemical castration can be applied.
“The procedure will be carried out directly in prisons,” the publication reported.
It is hoped that such measures will make relapse prevention more effective.
In August this year, the country passed another law – on penalties for stalking. A few days after the law took effect, the defendant in the first case appeared.
