At the borders of the Schengen area, due to changes in the procedure for passing through this area, foreigners may have to queue, write RIA Novosti is affiliated with the Russian Embassy in Belgium.
Last week, an EC official warned that EU countries would start registering foreigners' data at the border electronically from October 12 to improve control and anti-violation capabilities.
“You should plan your trip, to allow extra time to go through passport control and submit biometric data. At the initial stages of system operation, you may have to queue at checkpoints,” the embassy explains.
Previously, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that new regulations stipulate mandatory submission of biometric data at the border (fingerprints, photos).
This innovation will affect citizens of third countries, including Russians making short-term trips. Upon leaving the border, biometric information will be verified, the department stated.
