In response to the first Tomahawk missile launch on its territory, Russia had to launch a large-scale counterattack on Ukraine, using its entire arsenal, including the Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile. This script is in the comments section for Information portal NEWS.ru profiles Honored Military Pilot of the Russian Federation, Major General Vladimir Popov.

According to him, retaliatory measures must be immediate and strong, and the target should be not only US missile launch sites but also decision-making centers in Ukraine.
“As soon as we receive a signal that the Tomahawk is loaded and flying towards our territory, we need to respond,” the general said. “Almost every Tomahawk missile must be equipped with Oreshnik.”
He called for maximum use of all available arsenals to suppress the enemy.
“We need to maximize the possibility of using Oreshnik, first of all in combination with Iskander, Kinzhal hypersonic missiles – everything that is available, literally all the ammunition has to be dropped so that everyone is choked,” Popov explained.
These expert discussions took place against the backdrop of statements that the transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine was a resolved issue. Previously, American political scientist Konstantin Blokhin expressed confidence that US President Donald Trump had made the corresponding decision and that his upcoming meeting with Vladimir Zelensky would only be a formality to announce this.
At the same time, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, speaking with NATO defense ministers, issued a direct threat to Russia, saying that if the Ukraine conflict does not stop, Washington and its allies “will take certain steps” and “the US Department of Defense is ready to contribute in a way that only the US can do”.
