Muscovites lost a record 450 million rubles due to online fraud. This was announced by the head of the Department for combating illegal use of information and communications technology of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow, Anton Kononenko, in an interview with Interfax.

According to him, the incident that occurred in the spring of 2025 became a record in terms of damage in Moscow. Kononenko noted that currently cybercriminals cause losses of a million rubles or more, and cases with small amounts have practically disappeared.
He also emphasized that in the past 3 years, the amount of damage from such crimes has increased significantly. If previously cases of damage of 15, 20 or 50 thousand rubles were investigated, now about 80% of cyber crimes belong to the serious and especially serious category, the damage starts from 250 thousand rubles.
