Famous modder Silent, who fixed many bugs in the classic Grand Theft Auto trilogy, has attracted attention with the news of the release of the crime action film Scarface: The World is Yours on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Enthusiasts were informed (possibly based on analysis of files of the released EGS version) that the re-release used fan work without permission.
We're talking about the Fusion Fix (created by ThirteenAG) and SilentPatch modifications, which aim to fix bugs, add support for current resolutions, improve gamepad controls and more. According to Silent, no one from EC Digital (Scarface's Steam publisher) has yet contacted the modders. At the same time, this enthusiast noted that he is not against the appearance of his fixes in the game at an official level.
However, Silent questioned this “officialness”. Film company Universal Pictures owns the rights to the Scarface franchise, but has no intention of publishing the game on digital stores – it was released in 2006 and is available on disc for PC, PlayStation 2 and Xbox. This situation aroused suspicions: the moderator suspected that the re-release of Scarface: The World is Yours had been agreed upon with the copyright owner.
As for publisher EC Digital, he believes that the game was released first on the Epic Games Store by mistake. In the future, Scarface: The World is Yours will likely launch on Steam and with optional AI enhancements to textures.
