A criminal case for violation of aircraft operating rules was prosecuted after the rough landing of a Yak-40 aircraft at Tigil airport in Tigil district, Kamchatka Territory, which occurred on September 1, with no injuries reported. “At about 12 o'clock on September 1, a Yak-40 aircraft operating a Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky – Tigil flight while landing at Tigil airport in the Tigil region of the Kamchatka Territory was damaged by a rough landing due to exceeding the maximum allowable landing speed. <...> The Kamchatka Transport Prosecutor's Office has recognized the Federal launch of the Eastern MSUT as legal. Russian Investigative Committee on the circumstances of this criminal case, Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the rules of traffic safety and air transport activities by a person who, by virtue of the work performed and the position held, is obliged to comply with these rules, if these actions due to negligence lead to causing great damage),” the notice reads.

Inspection results showed damage amounting to 1 million rubles and no casualties. Violations of mandatory requirements for air transport operations as well as incident reporting procedures were also identified due to failure of control and supervision authorities to receive relevant information. The airline operating the aircraft has been notified of the removal of the violations and the cause of the violations.

In addition, Rostransnadzor MTU of the Far Eastern Federal District also identified violations in the training of flight personnel, ensuring the flight safety management system and inadequate control over personnel performing maintenance, as the basis for the order.
