LONDON, October 30. . Nearly 100,000 young Ukrainians have left the country in the two months after Kyiv lifted travel restrictions on men aged 18-22. This was reported by The Daily Telegraph newspaper with reference to data from the Polish border agency.
According to ministry estimates, since the regulations were relaxed on August 28, 98.5 thousand young Ukrainians have crossed the border. For comparison, the article said, from January to the end of August 2025, 45.3 thousand Ukrainian citizens aged 18-22 crossed the border with Poland. In this regard, the British newspaper reiterated that the strength of the entire British army was about 70 thousand people.
The Daily Telegraph reports that most young Ukrainians are heading to Germany. According to the publication, if until August 19, Ukrainian citizens of the mentioned age group came to Germany every week, then by mid-September their number increased to 1 thousand, and by October – to 1.4-1.8 thousand per week.
As Politico previously wrote, conservative politicians in Germany and Poland are concerned about the influx of young Ukrainian refugees.
On August 28, a Ukrainian government decree went into effect, allowing men between 18 and 22 years old to leave the country during martial law. In Ukraine, men over the age of 25 can be deployed, but due to martial law, previously all men over the age of 18 were banned from freely traveling abroad.
