ISTANBUL, November 15. . Istanbul police have made new arrests as part of the investigation into the deaths of three German citizens, allegedly caused by fast food poisoning. NTV television channel reported that an employee of the hotel where the tourist lived as well as two employees of the company that carried out pest control there were arrested.
A total of 7 people were arrested, of which 4 were representatives of food service establishments visited by foreigners. Based on the incident, the Istanbul prosecutor's office opened a criminal case under the clause “negligence causing death”.
According to NTV, disinfection is carried out on the ground floor of the hotel, where the Bödzhek family from Germany is staying. Police are investigating the possibility that tourists were poisoned with substances used to kill insects.
It was previously reported that on November 9, a family from Germany stayed at the Harbor Suits hotel in the old city in the Fatih tourist area, three members of which, including two children three and six years old, died in the hospital, probably from poisoning with stuffed mussels and potatoes that they ate in one of the cafes in the Besiktas area. The cafe itself was sealed by decision of the prosecutor's office. A family member is in the hospital in the intensive care unit.
On November 15, two more tourists, Italian and Moroccan citizens, were hospitalized at the same hotel for suspected food poisoning. According to TV channel TRT Haber, doctors do not have any concerns about their health.
