A PvP mode is coming to The Outlast Trials – the Invasion update coming on October 21 will shake up the game's casual gameplay significantly. PC Gamer Portal speakWhat you need to know about this update and how the new mode works.

The Invasion update will add a PvP mode to The Outlast Trials, which is available in the bedroom. In other words, you'll still go through challenges with a group of other players, but there may be “imposters” among them who need to kill others before they escape. Assassins can also use surveillance cameras to spy on players and prepare ambushes.
Each impostor is equipped with a knife that has two attacks: a quick swing that does little damage, and a powerful strike that can knock the player down but takes time to strike. Therefore, impostors hiding in ambushes will have to guess the moment to attack.
If the impostor fails to kill the remaining players and escape the challenge within two minutes, he will die – and the next impostor will enter the match. But it's important to remember that even though impostors are armed, they're just as vulnerable to threats as innocent players. A knife won't protect you from psychopaths prowling the tests.
As for regular players, Invasion mode is no different from regular challenges. Test subjects will have to explore the map and solve puzzles, only with the caveat that they may be hunted by other living players. But the game does not warn you that an impostor has appeared in the match and does not say who he is, so you cannot prepare in advance for the surprise.
The update will also add a new store and catalog collection to The Outlast Trials for those who missed out on rewards from previous item lines. You can also redeem points to purchase event catalogs, but they will not be sold for several months after the end of the event.
