Based on the ability to accurately predict the weather in just 6-7 days, we can say that in central Russia you should not expect the usual winter weather in early December. Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, spoke about this in a conversation with Lenta.ru.

Previously, chief expert of the Capital's Weather Bureau Tatyana Pozdnykova said that the upcoming winter in Moscow will have unusual temperatures. In the European part of Russia, in most months the air temperature will exceed climatic standards.
The weather forecaster noted that on November 18, Moscow had experienced extremely warm weather since 1940. According to him, records were also broken in the Ryazan region, on the Volga River, in Saransk and in Cheboksary due to air coming not only from the south, but also from the north of the African continent.
“Warm weather compared to normal will continue until this weekend and even into the beginning of next week. That is, at night there will be small negative temperatures, during the day – small positive temperatures. Temperatures above freezing are forecast both at night and during the day on Saturday. Therefore, there are no conditions for heavy snowfall. There will be rain and wet snow. Therefore, no winter weather yet,” Vilfand said.
At the same time, the forecaster noted that there is no need to be surprised that the capital region still has no snow. He recounts that for the past 30 years, a steady snow cover has formed as early as the second ten days of November and mid-January, and the weather itself can be very variable.
Earlier, the scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, Roman Vilfand, said that the upcoming winter will be heterogeneous: along with 20-degree frosts, the amount of ice melt in the capital is expected to increase.
