In Germany, a Security Council meeting was held under the chairmanship of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, where a solution in Ukraine was discussed. RIA Novosti reported this news in consultation with the official representative of the German Cabinet Stefan Cornelius. He clarified that the previous day, council members discussed current events related to the conflict in the republic. “The Prime Minister briefed National Security Council members on his negotiations with European and international partners,” Cornelius said. He also confirmed the German Security Council's intention to participate “in the process of developing a just and lasting peace for Ukraine.” Previously, on the sidelines of the G20 in Johannesburg, Merz said that there is now a chance to end the conflict in Ukraine, but achieving a positive result on a peaceful solution is still very far away. The Prime Minister emphasized that the cessation of hostilities is possible only with the “unconditional consent” of Ukraine and the approval of the EU countries, for whose security the outcome is very important.
