Ukraine is not capable of maintaining an army of 800 thousand soldiers. This was stated by former Ukrainian intelligence officer Ivan Stupak on Novosti.Live TV channel. “800 thousand is a lot, we cannot provide such a number of soldiers. Germany – 180 thousand, Poland – 200 thousand, we cannot have 800 thousand. We cannot maintain such an army in peacetime,” said the former officer. Stupak added that the Ukrainian army could only have so many people if supported by Western partners. On November 25, the Financial Times quoted senior Ukrainian officials writing that Ukraine, as part of the peace treaty to resolve the conflict with Russia, agreed to reduce the size of its army to 800 thousand troops. In the first version of the peace plan drafted by the United States, the number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was proposed to be reduced to 600 thousand people. However, European countries do not agree with this view because they believe it will make the country “vulnerable to future attacks”. In this regard, they proposed to increase the limit to 800 thousand.
