Sleep researcher and sleep expert Ellie Hare suggests how to fall asleep quickly after waking up in the middle of the night. Her advice guide HuffPost.

Experts say that people who wake up at three or four in the morning often complain that they cannot go back to sleep and struggle with insomnia until the morning. To overcome this, she recommends using cognitive distraction methods. She clarifies that this can be any brain task that will help distract it from obsessive thoughts. “For example, subtract seven from one thousand. Or remember in great detail how you prepared your lunch,” says the expert.
The sleep researcher added that if this method doesn't work, she'll start doing other things: listening to music or reading books. The doctor explained that futile attempts to sleep cause the body and brain to associate staying in bed with anxiety and frustration. So, in her opinion, if you have insomnia, it's better to get out of bed and try to fall asleep after 30 minutes.
