In Chuvashia, cousins posing as call girls over the phone were detained on suspicion of fraud. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic reported this in telegram-channel.
According to regulations, local people are suspected of committing 4 crimes of stealing money by fraud with a total loss of more than 600 thousand rubles. According to security officials, the brothers published profiles on the Internet with photos of random girls and answered men's calls, imitating women's voices.
The criminal conspiracy then continued with the defendants presenting themselves on behalf of the crime boss, threatening to expose or take revenge on their loved ones. Therefore, the “moths” asked the victims to transfer money to them.
“From colleagues from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, investigators learned about the involvement of the suspects in committing similar crimes against residents of the neighboring area,” the agency clarified.
Law enforcement officers carried out a joint operation with the support of riot police: the suspects were detained. A criminal investigation into fraud and extortion is currently underway.
