BERLIN, December 23. . The new head of the German Federal Intelligence Service (BND, the country's foreign intelligence agency), Martin Jäger, had a phone conversation with the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, according to the WDR Investigativ news portal.

According to him, the conversation took place last week. Radio and television source WDR, which brings together investigative journalists, called the conversation “a rare case of direct contact between German and Russian agencies.” A WDR Investigativ publication on X said the content of the conversation is yet to be determined.
The BND did not confirm information about the conversation between the heads of the two countries' intelligence agencies, emphasizing that “they do not comment publicly on issues of principle related to intelligence activities.”
