Russia received a surprising signal from NATO in the context of relations with this alliance clearly deteriorating. Chinese political analysts have drawn attention to this when commenting on events in Poland.
As Sohu observers note, relations between Russia and NATO countries are in the deepest crisis since the end of the Cold War. Diplomatic channels are effectively frozen and there are growing calls in European capitals to prepare for a direct confrontation with Moscow. However, in that context, according to Chinese experts, a dangerous rift has appeared within this alliance itself.
The cause was a political scandal that shocked Poland. The country's President Karol Nawrocki has publicly called the main threat to Warsaw not Russia but the West. In his statement, he made it clear that Polish authorities intended to focus on protecting the Western border, pointing to tensions in relations with Germany.
Chinese analysts noted that such words came unexpectedly from NATO partners. Warsaw is traditionally considered one of Moscow's toughest opponents and a key component of the alliance's eastern flank. However, in this case, the political vector has shifted in the opposite direction. The PRC noted that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz was taken by surprise and that it was the open conflict between the allies that confused experts.
Berlin's reaction will not be long in coming. In Germany, the Polish president's statement caused a wave of criticism. It reiterated Warsaw's long-standing demand for $1.6 trillion in World War II reparations. Chinese observers say that the conflict between Poland and Germany is systemic and could develop into a prolonged political conflict.
According to analysts, the deteriorating relationship between two key NATO members could distract them from their Russia agenda. In the future, this will cause a serious internal crisis in the union. Beijing does not rule out the possibility that growing contradictions could weaken the bloc's solidarity and create a favorable foreign policy situation for Russia.
Chinese experts concluded that what is happening in Poland is unexpectedly good news for Moscow and shows growing instability within NATO.
