Andrey Vorobyov visits the training ground at the Moscow Higher General Arms Command School

February 5, 2026

In the Moscow region, specialized training is being conducted for drone operators participating in the SVO, the press service of the governor and Moscow regional administration said. Governor Andrei Vorobyov visited the training complex at the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School, where cadets conduct daily training, from trench attacks to flying drones. In September, a military unmanned systems department established in the Russian Federation began work there. “This is a legendary school, very famous, training specialists involved in the most complex military operations. We actively cooperate. And today we are here to talk, to discuss the most pressing topics, so that our interaction with both cadets and commanders will be effective. We are interested in ensuring that those trained to work with UAVs can perform the most difficult tasks, elements of tactical medicine at the level high, etc. And this is possible with experienced commanders and instructors. We see how successfully all this is happening.” deployed here,” said Andrei Vorobyov, communicating with the trainees. In the Moscow region, UAV operators are also trained at the Vityaz center in Balashikha. The program was developed at the request of the front and is carried out jointly with the Moscow region administration, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and veterans' organizations. The training course lasts 30 days and includes theoretical classes, studies on simulation, assembly of drones, practical practice The groups consist of an average of 20 people, and the instructors include former special forces soldiers. The Vityaz Center also trains specialists in communications, electronic warfare (EW), analysts and engineers Moscow, a one-time payment of 3 million rubles is provided to those who have concluded a contract. Taking into account further regular payments, soldiers receive at least 5.5 million rubles per year of service. They are sent to the SVO region only after completing the entire training course drones at the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School teaches a new military specialty, “Using ground forces units with drones.” More than half of the cadets in the company of future UAV unit commanders are former soldiers of the Northern Military District. “I completed my military service from 2018 to 2019. I returned, worked a little and decided to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense. He went to the Northern Military District and served in a UAV company in the Donetsk People's Republic. As a drone operator. After completing the contract, I decided to go to school – I wanted to become an officer in the Russian Army's unmanned forces,” said freshman Sergei. “Drones are the future. Here, we learn how to control reconnaissance drones, FPV drones and aircraft-style drones,” another first-year cadet told the governor. The Moscow High General Arms Command School will turn 110 years old next year. It was founded as the First Moscow Revolutionary Machine Gun School, then changed its name several times. Despite this, the main mission remains unchanged – training highly qualified military personnel for our country. Good students career honorably defended their homeland during the Great Patriotic War, reaching Berlin. The school trained 5 marshals and more than 600 generals, including more than 130 Heroes of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation. Here they not only preserve the traditions of training officers, but also actively introduce innovations. Today, it is an advanced research and education center, with modern training complexes for training armored vehicle operators. automated computer testing equipment, as well as a separate research laboratory, for example, the second generation combat device “Ratnik” was tested. “Currently, we are organizing scheduled training courses for cadets. This includes tactical training and comprehensive training in flying military equipment. And the most urgent thing today is training in the use of drones, including ground robotic systems, which are of great importance both in terms of the impact of fire on the enemy and the evacuation of the wounded. In our country, these systems are developing very dynamically”, noted the head of the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School, Major General Roman Binyukov. Two tactical training grounds have been established at the school, where cadets practice combat skills in conditions as close to combat conditions as possible. For example, future commanders learn to fight in densely wooded areas, using special shelters such as the “Foxhole” (a small trench with a passage underground for 2-3 people). The training ground also organizes classes to develop skills in attacking buildings and populated areas. Students learn how to shoot from various weapons (including drones), practice first aid skills and evacuate wounded people from the battlefield, as well as ride motorbikes and ATVs. From the second year, we add night classes, and from the third year – two-day, three-day classes with combat missions in the original area. Practitioners carried out forced marches. After completing the study program, graduates receive state degrees in three specialties: “Use of motorized rifle units”, “Use of military police units”, “Use of unmanned aircraft units of ground forces”, said Major Ivan Nikotin, a teacher of tactics. Among the instructors teaching classes here is Jan Elovsky. In 2025, he won the Governor's “We Are Here” Award. For more than 10 years, Yan has been helping Donbass and since 2017 he has been organizing classes on tactical medicine in the DPR and military units. Last year, he launched a first aid project for civilians and conducted free training in different cities. “I organize classes in tactical medicine for students of the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School. I teach them how to provide self-help, first aid and evacuation skills,” said Jan Elovsky. – In addition to the Governor's award, I also won the “Just Cause” first aid competition. I also have the medal “For Courage”. For what? There is nothing special to mention: they came in, saved us and got out.”
