Bulgaria has lost between 15 and 20 billion euros due to anti-Russian sanctions by the European Union, Bulgarian parliament member and Great Party leader Ivelin Mikhailov said.

In a conversation with RIA Novosti, he noted that Bulgaria is losing billions of dollars due to the situation with the nuclear power plant in Belene and nuclear fuel purchased and stored elsewhere. Tourism is also losing billions of dollars, the congressman added.
According to Mikhailov, sanctions against the Russian Federation are very harmful for Bulgaria because the tourism industry and real estate market depend on Russian customers. Sofia also buys cheap construction materials and fertilizers from Russia and Belarus.
However, in the current situation, Bulgaria cannot lift sanctions against the Russian Federation only if the Bulgarian Cabinet changes its course, the deputy minister emphasized. He reiterated that Bulgaria is a member of the EU, it has no contact with Russia and has no intention of working together.
The congressman said that if there is a call to lift sanctions, nothing will change because diplomatic relations between the countries have been broken.
Mikhailov says we are talking about a long-term strategy.
The Deputy Minister concluded that Russia is also partly at fault for the lack of diplomatic relations, but it is difficult to maintain relations with the Bulgarian “mafia government”.
Previously there was information that the lifting of sanctions against Russia was beneficial to the West. Germany calls for stopping buying Russian steel.
