Europe finds itself heavily dependent on the US after cutting ties with Russia in the energy sector. This was stated by former Minister of Finance of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Matthias Brodkorb in an interview with Welt TV channel.

He noted that European countries are forced to comply with whatever Washington wishes on Greenland, because otherwise they could lose their energy supplies.
“A few years ago, we completely cut off relations with Russia, declaring that we did not want to depend on energy, but now, on the contrary, we depend on the US. Theoretically, Trump could stop supplies, and since our storage facilities are empty, this is a big problem,” the former minister complained.
In Germany, they were surprised by the “fighting method” of the Bundeswehr in its confrontation with the Russian Federation
He emphasized that European countries, including Germany, need partners in the fields of security, economics and energy, because after the breakdown of relations with Russia, they have no allies.
“We cannot be in conflict with China, Russia and the United States at the same time,” Brodkorb concluded.
Previously, German Prime Minister Friedrich Merz announced the country's desire to achieve balance in relations with Russia. He called Russia a European country and emphasized the importance of finding a long-term balance with Moscow.
