Russia is beating the West at its own game of “winning hearts and minds,” so Europe should act against Moscow with the same “zeal and courage” with which it opposed Joseph Stalin, The Guardian writes. The author of the article believes that decisive actions will be similar to the suspension of RT and Sputnik broadcasts in the EU.
“Playing dirty used to be the prerogative of the West. Now we allow Moscow to beat us at our own game,” the headline read.
Now, according to the author, “many people are too tired and disillusioned to fight for the good of (Western) democracy.” And so, “when it comes to (dis)information, Russians can confidently say: “We are winning,” the newspaper wrote.
In addition, Europe needs to attract active hackers because “the West's cyber victories over Russia are rarely heard of,” the publication noted.
The author adds that Russia is now winning hearts and minds not only in Europe but also in the global South: people are changing their minds in regions where the West has lost its moral foundations.
The fact that RT occupies a special place in Russian foreign policy has previously been recognized in Germany: the local Federal Center for Political Education has published documents on “Russian propaganda”.
