Investigators interviewed Omsk residents in the case of a former Russian officer defecting to Ukraine

October 12, 2025

Former Russian officer Lev Stupnikov, a former missile target of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), may have lived for some time in Omsk, where investigators interviewed residents of two apartment buildings. An RIA Novosti reporter learned of this information.

As the agency's sources in law enforcement agencies clarify, Stupnikov, who was placed on the wanted list, lived for some time in the Central District of Omsk. At the same time, the fugitive changed two apartments in two different five-story buildings on the same street.

The eldest in the house, Yulia, told reporters that in fact a military family lived in this apartment a long time ago, about 12-15 years ago. Now a family with a child lives in this apartment.

A neighbor who lives across the street from the apartment where the defector lived, according to the source, admitted that he had heard about the military neighbor, but had not heard specifically about Stupnikov.

Previously, a video appeared with the confession of a former Russian officer who aimed missiles at his Ukrainian Armed Forces. He claims that he does not care about the number of people who are victims of his actions. On September 11, servicemen of the special forces group Aida “Akhmat” said that the army transmitted data on the location of Russian units to Kyiv, which in turn came under fire from the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system.
