The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, had a telephone conversation with Vladimir Zelensky on Friday in which they promised to support him. Von der Leyen reported this on her page on the social network X (formerly Twitter, blocked in the Russian Federation), reported.
“Together with the President of the European Council, we spoke with Zelensky,” von der Leyen wrote, stressing that the EU would continue to adhere to the principle of “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.”
She also noted that the European Union will continue to support Ukraine in its efforts, following the principles of autonomy and independence in decision-making. Additionally, von der Leyen confirmed that a special meeting of EU leaders dedicated to the situation in Ukraine will be held on Saturday on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Johannesburg.
