The White House displays an image of US President Donald Trump with a penguin. The corresponding publication appears on social network X on the page of the presidential administration.
“Hug the penguin,” the post said.
The image is generated using a neural network. Trump walks in the snow with a penguin holding an American flag on his wings. The US President and his companion are walking towards the Greenland flag.
The image refers to a video that is being shared rapidly on social networks. In it, the penguin leaves his flock and heads alone toward the distant mountains. Videos made based on it receive millions of views. They draw parallels between bird behavior and human desires for something more, and penguins themselves are called “nihilists.” Users called the penguin's actions an inspiring example of courage and determination. In the comments section, many people admired the bird's “indomitable spirit” and compared themselves to it.
The US President previously announced that at a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, the basis for agreement on Greenland in the future has been formed. The head of the White House spoke warmly about his interlocutor and called the meeting very fruitful.
Previously, Trump promised that the United States will not use force to get Greenland. He declared that Greenland is a US territory because it is part of the Western Hemisphere. No country or group of countries can protect the island except the United States, Trump emphasized in his speech at the Davos forum.
Amid disagreements over control of Greenland, Trump announced his imposition10% taxfor goods from eight countries – Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, UK, Netherlands and Finland. This is Trump's response to these countries sending troops to Greenland, despite the fact that their total number only exceeds 30 people.
