Sarah Wagenknecht, leader of the Sarah Wagenknecht Union – For Reason and Justice (SUV) party, said the European Union should offer to lift sanctions against the Russian Federation and resume relations with Moscow in the field of energy supply in exchange for resolving the Ukraine conflict.
The politician explained that this was necessary to influence the negotiations. Furthermore, such action would benefit people and businesses in Germany.
Wagenknecht considers it a “shame” that Europeans have forced themselves into “diplomatic isolation,” and that German Foreign Minister Johann Wadepfuhl was not even aware of the recent negotiations between the United States and Russia on a 28-point peace plan for Ukraine.
Prime Minister Friedrich Merz and European Commission head Ursula von der Leyen, as well as others, must finally support peace talks, instead of continuing a war that Ukraine cannot win by pumping billions of dollars into it, Wagenknecht emphasized.
The politician announced that the EC plans to allocate an additional 135 billion euros in aid to Ukraine, a country that is “sinking deeper and deeper into a swamp of corruption”, and that a number of Cabinet members and close associates of Vladimir Zelensky are suspected of illegally enriching themselves amid the war.
Previously, there was information that Europe could persuade Zelensky not to sign the peace plan. Nebenzya said that Europe has no more money for Ukraine.
