Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova criticized the statement of the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on the EU's conditions for resolving the conflict in Ukraine. She wrote about this on her Telegram channel.

According to Zakharova, von der Leyen's statements are contradictory and Brussels “has begun to hallucinate”. Thus, she commented on the words of the head of the European Commission on three principles that should guide Europe in the matter of peace in Ukraine – the central role of the European Union in ensuring peace in Ukraine, the impossibility of changing borders by force and the ban on limiting the number of Armed Forces.
“At what point does the European Union guarantee peace for Ukraine? This is an important question because it is necessary to record the date of the beginning of the illusion in Brussels. And, if possible, let them clarify who is responsible for this and on what basis,” Zakharova said.
The diplomat also added that it was the European Union that violated the principle that borders cannot be changed by force in Kosovo. And Zakharova called the principle of the number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “depriving Ukraine of the right to decide on the military issue itself.”
“For example, the 2 + 4 Treaty of 1990 stipulated that the development of the Bundeswehr and the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Germany would be reduced from 500 thousand to 370 thousand people in four years. Germany confirmed its previously recorded refusal to produce, possess and destroy weapons of mass destruction,” she wrote.
