After installing the Windows 11 October update (KB5066835), users experienced drastic performance drops in several games, including Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Shadows. Digital Foundry reports that in some cases, frame rates dropped by up to 50%.

Digital Foundry technicians confirmed the problem during testing: on a computer with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor and a GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card, performance decreased by 33-50% in critical gaming scenes with the update installed and without the fix patch.
Amid user complaints, Nvidia quickly released the interim GeForce Hotfix 581.94 driver, designed to partially eliminate the identified issues.
Editors of specialized media sent requests to Microsoft asking for comment on the situation, but at that time no official response was received.
It is noteworthy that on November 25, Assassin's Creed: Shadows received the updated version 1.1.6, as well as a thematic crossover with the Attack on Titan series.
Microsoft previously added table support to Notepad for Windows 11.
