Roskomnadzor (RKN) has restricted access to the American Internet service Roblox in connection with the revealed facts about the massive and repeated distribution of material with propaganda and justification of extremist and terrorist activities, calls for illegal acts of a violent nature and LGBT propaganda (International Social Movement of LGBT recognized as extremist and terrorist themes, banned in the Russian Federation). RKN press service told Gazeta.Ru about this.
“Roblox supervision has repeatedly confirmed that the internal censorship system is not capable of ensuring 100% safety of material appearing on the platform. In the gaming space, there is a large amount of inappropriate content that can negatively affect the mental and moral development of children, creating conditions and prerequisites for carrying out illegal actions,” the ministry's response said.
They replied that such actions are carried out, including in the so-called rooms and locations of the game, where users can become perpetrators of terrorist acts, attack schools and engage in gambling, etc. Children in the game are sexually harassed, intimate photos are lured from them and they are persuaded to participate in depraved and violent acts – after all, Roblox is very popular with pedophiles who meet minors directly in game conversations and then move on to real life, they emphasized. Cases of such illegal acts against children have long ceased to occur in both the United States and Russia.
RKN emphasized: “In 2025, according to the decision of the competent authorities, Roskomnadzor, on the basis of Articles 15.1 and 15.3 149-FZ, repeatedly sent notices to the Roblox authorities with a request to restrict access to prohibited materials.”
