Heavy snowfall in Kamchatka has caused a sharp increase in online gaming activity World of Tanks. During the first working week of 2026, residents of the region experienced more in-game battles than during the first week of the Tet holiday, which is considered an atypical situation for a project that traditionally peaks in popularity during the holiday season. Gazeta.Ru was informed about this by the press service of the company Lesta Games.

According to statistics, the greatest number of battles over the past week took place on Thursday, while usually maximum activity is recorded on weekends. In total, Kamchatka players experienced more than 230 thousand battles during this time, becoming a record number in the region.
Battles in World of Tanks take place on maps, some of which are based on real geographical locations, including Kamchatka. The prototypes of the corresponding game maps are Avachinskaya Bay, Vilyuchinsk and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
Between December 30, 2025 and January 16, 2026, the total number of games played reached 599,452, 7.5% higher than the same period last year. During that same period, the total number of hours players spent in battles increased by about 10%.
