Sony has filed a lawsuit against an eBay seller who is selling counterfeit PlayStation goods.
More than 550 people have signed up for zaocuand-002 and there are more than nine thousand sales on his account. Sony is demanding $2 million from him for each trademark abuse. In addition to compensation, Sony wants the retailer to be banned from displaying any PlayStation-related advertising.
The lawsuit notes that zaocuand-002 most likely lives in China or another country with a “weak trademark enforcement system.”
“Defendants sought to avoid and mitigate liability by operating, at a minimum, under an alias as a seller to conceal their identity and the full scope and nexus of their counterfeiting activities,” the complaint states.
It was previously reported that Nintendo won a lawsuit against a streamer who aired pirated copies of games and mocked the Japanese corporation.
