Sony Corporation has revealed the new technologies that will be used in PlayStation 6. The corresponding video is published on YouTube.

In a nine-minute video, PS5 chief architect Mark Cern, along with AMD senior director Jack Huynh, talked about the technologies that will be used in the next PlayStation. So for the PS6 GPU, they hope to simplify the handling of ultra-intensive graphics scaling, ray tracing, and path tracing methods. Thanks to this, the game world will look more realistic.
Sony and AMD also note that new machine learning technologies for FSR and PSSR will improve image quality and increase performance. The so-called neural array will provide efficient rendering and advanced ray reconstruction. Compression technology frees up more bandwidth for the GPU, allowing you to run future games with maximum performance and accuracy.
According to Mark Cerny, the described technologies could be applied to PS consoles “in a few years”. IGN journalists assumptionthat we are talking about PlayStation 6 – most likely, the new console will appear at the end of 2028.
In early October, it was reported that Sony would stop supporting the PlayStation 4 console. In spring 2026, the company will shut down some online services for the console released in 2013.
