InXile Entertainment, the creator of the Wasteland series, is actively working on its next project, the steampunk action RPG Clockwork Revolution. PC Gamer Portal speakWhat is known about the game at the moment.

Game release date
Clockwork Revolution has not yet set a release date, but it is known that the game will be released on PC and Xbox Series. The project was first presented at the Xbox Games Showcase 2023, and two years later the authors showed a double-length trailer, including live gameplay footage. So perhaps the release of Clockwork Revolution is just around the corner – it's reasonable to expect at least the second half of 2026.
Plot and setting details
From the name of the game you can understand what the player will have to do, but the latest trailer tells a little about how the main character becomes a revolutionary. The player character grows up in the slums of Avalon and joins a street gang, where as fate would have it, he acquires a mysterious glove capable of manipulating time – a technology previously available only to the city's ruler, Lady Ironwood. Although the story is set in 1895, the trailer suggests that we will move forward and backward in time as events unfold. So in the video, areas of Avalon change according to the player's decisions, and not necessarily for the better.
Additionally, scenes in the trailer hint at the presence of various factions, as well as missions that affect the city's global affairs – such as the status of androids in Avalon society. InXile is not known for liking to tell simple, easy-to-understand stories, so the full version of Clockwork Revolution may have many plot branches.
Mechanics and gameplay
From the Xbox Games Showcase trailer, it looks like Clockwork Revolution will be a steampunk alternative to Avowed and Fallout 4. The first-person combat system combines shooting and time manipulation that can affect the environment and opponents. In one moment of the video, the main character throws a mine at an enemy's feet, sending him flying into the air and leaving him vulnerable to a finishing attack.
The developers also teased a bit about the character leveling window, where you can see typical RPG traits, from agility to charisma, that affect the character's strengths and weaknesses in combat and social situations. While there aren't any explicit dialogue skill checks in the video, there are definitely some in the main game. Additionally, it looks like Clockwork Revolution will have Fallout-style perks.
Weapon customization and crafting will also likely play an important role. Each weapon type has a number of parameters such as damage, fire rate and accuracy. Using gun resources, you can craft barrels and stocks to tailor the weapon to your own play style through accessories. And in the video, the character threw shock grenades at his opponents – perhaps crafting the weapon will allow him to exploit the underlying vulnerabilities of stronger enemies.
