Lenovo plans to unveil a new version of its Legion Go 2 mobile gaming console running SteamOS at CES 2026, which could be its most affordable device yet with the Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor. This is reported by the latest Windows.
The original version of Legion Go 2 running Windows 11 was sold for about 1,100 USD (about 88 thousand rubles), on par with competing solutions from Asus and MSI. However, Lenovo's experience with the Legion Go S model shows that switching to SteamOS can significantly reduce product costs: the version running Windows 11 costs 730 USD (about 58.4 thousand rubles), while the version running SteamOS costs 600 USD (about 48 thousand rubles).
Similar to this approach, Legion Go 2 on SteamOS can have a price of less than $ 1000 (about 80 thousand rubles), which would make it not only the cheapest console with Ryzen Z2 Extreme, but also the first on this processor to overcome the psychological price threshold.
An additional factor in competitiveness could be an increase in performance – SteamOS has traditionally demonstrated more efficient use of resources than Windows in mobile gaming systems.
