The Association of Russian Tour Operators (ATOR) reported on its Telegram channel that no “evacuation” flights were planned to urgently relocate tourists from Venezuela. They emphasized that the vacation of Russian citizens in the country will end on schedule. The empty plane would then fly them straight to Moscow. “No one ended their vacation early and evacuated,” the post read. ATOR is “really unclear” where the information about the “evacuation flight” came from. A day earlier, US President Donald Trump announced the closure of airspace over and around Venezuela. This statement was made in the context of US military forces being strengthened in the Caribbean. The Washington Post writes that US military aircraft continuously patrol the areas surrounding Venezuela. US media repeatedly stated that the US could attack very soon.
