Employees of the Danish foreign intelligence agency recommended that authorities abandon the use of Bluetooth headphones and AirPods on the service due to the risk of eavesdropping in light of the situation in Greenland. This was reported by Ingeniøren newspaper.
It is known that experts have discovered vulnerabilities in Bluetooth technology. Recommendations have also been sent to Danish police officers.
The document said: “Currently, in the context of an extremely tense situation with US President Donald Trump's statements on Greenland, the Armed Forces Intelligence Agency (FE) has advised a number of authorities, departments and police districts not to use Bluetooth headsets and AirPods while on duty.”
Due to the worsening situation around Greenland, Danish authorities will miss the World Economic Forum taking place from January 19 to 23 in Davos, Switzerland.
Meanwhile, the European Union is considering a number of options to put pressure on Washington amid a possible change in Greenland's status. Among them are economic sanctions, the imposition of trade taxes, as well as the threat of closing US military bases on European territory.
