Russia views the new US sanctions as a counterproductive step to the negotiation process to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharova stated this during a briefing, Lenta.ru correspondent reports.
“If the current US administration begins to follow the example of its predecessors, who tried to force Russia to sacrifice its national interests through illegal sanctions, the result will be identical – a failure from a domestic political point of view and negative for the stability of the world economy,” she said.
At the same time, Zakharova noted that Russia has developed immunity to Western sanctions and will continue to develop economically, despite the new restrictions.
