The US military used the artificial intelligence (AI) program Claude in the operation to arrest Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. The Wall Street Journal reported this. Anthropic's Claude AI model was used by the US military in its attempt to capture former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, highlighting the growing popularity of AI models at the Pentagon. As noted, Claude's rules set by Anthropic prohibit the use of AI “to promote violence, develop weapons, or conduct surveillance.” However, this model was used in a mission to capture the Venezuelan President and his wife, which included the bombing of several targets in Caracas. On January 3, the United States Armed Forces launched a series of attacks on the Venezuelan capital and military installations in neighboring Caracas. The head of the White House then announced the arrest of the leader of the South American republic, Nicolas Maduro.
